Cloud for Business – Seminar Report

cloud-for-business

We organized a free seminar titled Cloud for Business on November 26th, 2015, at the Aristos Hotel in Zagreb. The main goal was to inform the audience about novelties related to cloud computing business solutions, and to show examples on how 3 PRO can help improve businesses and increase user productivity.

At the beginning, Marko Kuntic, the 3 PRO CEO, welcomed all the participants and gave a short introduction.

Tomislav Tipuric, the Microsoft Croatia Partner Technology Strategist, talked about Cloud computing from Server Halls to Services. He compared companies that operate their businesses using the cloud with those that don’t, explained the main difference between private and public cloud environments, and described the segmentation of the Microsoft Cloud offering (infrastructure, platform and apps).

„Cloud computing, also known as on-demand computing, is a kind of Internet-based computing, where shared resources, data and information are provided to computers and other devices on-demand. It is a model for enabling ubiquitous, on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources.“ – Wikipedia

Hrvoje Kusulja, the 3 PRO COO, spoke about Cloud services and how to utilize them effectively. He elaborated on security measures that are in place for Microsoft Cloud services, data protection, central device management (PCs, tablets, mobile phones) and the advantages of Cloud technologies.

The next topic was Cloud Business Applications, with a focus on customized business solutions and applications that 3 PRO develops for the Dynamics CRM and SharePoint platforms.

The seminar ended with a presentation on how to increase productivity and efficiency, how to be more flexible at work and under what circumstances are Cloud services usually more cost-effective than their classic On-Premises counterparts.

Dear Attendees, thank you all for coming and see you next time on one of our future events!

Spectrum Virtualize includes the following features:

  • virtualize block storage arrays to centralize storage management
  • improve utilization of storage capacity
  • avoid downtime for backups, maintenance, and upgrades
  • support data migration without disruption to applications
  • enable virtualized storage volumes to be managed as a single pool of storage
  • enable advanced functionalities to be used across multiple virtualized storage array
  • enable a high-availability storage infrastructure through Stretched Cluster or HyperSwap®
  • improve the efficiency of the virtualized block storage infrastructure with advanced technologies such as Real-time Compression™
  • move the most accessed dana automatically to higher performance tiers through EasyTier®

New functionalities in 7.6:

  • Encryption: improves data security and confidentiality. It is available for both internal capacities of SVC, Storwize V7000 and FlashSystems V9000 and externally virtualized capacities of Storwize V7000, SVC, and FlashSystems V9000
  • Distributed RAID: now available for internal capacities, enables up to 10 times faster RAID array rebuild times.
  • IP quorum base support: enables the use of a lower cost IP network-attached host as a quorum disk for simplified implementation and operation
  • HyperSwap GUI support: offers a new command-line interface which simplifies the setup process to a handful commands, and also enables configuration and management of local HyperSwap through the GUI
  • VMWare VVol integration
  • Increase maximum quantity of iSCSI hosts: increases the maximum number of iSCSI host sessions from 256 to 1024 per node
  • Integrated Comprestimator: analyzes the patterns of the actual customer data, and estimate the compressibility of data per volume
  • Improvement in the worldwide support processes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week
