Azure Stack HCI “20H2” – the newest iteration of Microsoft’s hyper-converged infrastructure – is generally available.

It’s a solution based on hyperconverged server, storage, and networking infrastructure, paired with an Azure subscription, which can help you to:

The main advantage of Azure Stack HCI is that enables you to run a selection of Azure services on on-premises or co-located hardware.

The Azure Stack family

Azure Stack HCI belongs to the same family as Azure (Public Cloud) and Azure Stack Hub, and it utilizes the same compute, storage, and networking software as Azure Stack Hub.

Licensing

Azure Stack HCI usage is licensed via an Azure subscription – a monthly per-core fee is charged. Once you connect to Azure, the number of cores will automatically be accounted for.

Unlike Azure Stack Hub, which can be configured for online or offline operation, Azure Stack HCI must regularly communicate with Microsoft Azure.

The price does not vary with consumption changes, so if you add more workloads, the price remains the same.
